Christian Ponder injury: Vikings QB out after taking hit to shoulder

Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson are rightfully getting plenty of attention, but Reggie Bush has been the unsung hero of the Lions’ offense. He finished with 105 rushing yards on 14 attempts, while giving the team added depth it hasn’t had in the past. Pulling the focus away from the passing game allowed the field to open up, and in past years, teams were able to key in on Johnson without any other offensive threats.

The Chicago Bears are paying Julius Peppers as if he’s one of the Cheap Jerseys Hot league’s five best defensive ends, and it’s OK to demand better performance from him. Once again Peppers was a non-factor at a time the Bears needed a defensive player to step up. This season he has 18 tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble — on pace for his worst season since 2007 with the Carolina Panthers. Quarterback issues will be the focal point, but the bigger question is why the Bears can’t pressure opposing passers.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder left Thursday night’s game against Washington Redskins with an apparent shoulder injury. He is out for the game, Alex Flanagan reported on the NFL Network telecast.

Ponder took off on a scramble for the left corner of the end zone and took hard hit on the shoulder from a defender as he dove for the pylon. He fumbled the ball on the one-yard line due to the hit.

Ponder was immediately replaced by Matt Cassel, who handed the ball off to Adrian Peterson for a touchdown that gave the Vikings a 28-27 lead. Replays showed Ponder smiling on the sidelines with training staff shortly after leaving. However, not long after putting his helmet back on, he was walked into the locker room by trainers.

The Redskins held a 24-14 lead at halftime, but the Vikings have come back in the third quarter to take a one-point lead. Ponder played well, going 17-of-21 passing for 174 yards, two Cheap Jerseys Youth touchdowns and one interception.
